Support Better Policy
OVTI was created to bring practical, lawful and evidence-based ideas into the European policy discussion.
If you believe that Europe's migration challenges deserve serious research, constructive debate and new policy solutions, you can add your voice to the initiative.
From an Idea to a Policy Discussion
A policy proposal cannot create change simply by being published. It must be examined, challenged, improved and ultimately brought to the attention of policymakers, researchers, institutions and the wider public.
Public support helps demonstrate that there is interest in examining alternatives to prolonged legal uncertainty.
Supporting OVTI means supporting the discussion.
It does not mean that you must agree with every detail of every proposal.
It means that you believe practical policy ideas deserve serious consideration.

WHAT ARE YOU SUPPORTING?
By supporting OVTI, you are supporting the principle that prolonged migration-policy challenges should be examined through:
Law
Any proposed solution must respect European and national law.
Evidence
Policy development should be informed by reliable research and data.
Responsibility
Sustainable frameworks should contain clear rights, obligations and conditions.
Participation
Where legally possible, prolonged inactivity should be examined against opportunities for lawful participation and self-reliance.
Dialogue
Different perspectives should be able to participate in constructive policy discussions.
Practical Solutions
Policy should be capable of functioning in the real world, not only in theory.
Support Discussion of the Bridge Permit Framework
OVTI's first proposal explores a structured transitional framework for certain situations in which an asylum procedure has definitively ended but effective return remains unrealised for a prolonged period.
The proposal considers whether clearly defined conditions involving employment, integration, responsibility and government oversight could provide an alternative policy instrument for qualifying cases.
Supporting the initiative does not mean supporting automatic residence for rejected asylum applicants.
It means supporting serious consideration of whether a carefully regulated alternative deserves research and policy discussion.
